Lisa Varner is a counselor and educator. She has 11 years of experience in public and charter education as a secondary English and ESL instructor, Director of Academic Affairs and Guidance Counselor. She draws upon a variety of instructional approaches including cooperative learning, discovery and shared inquiry learning and direct instruction. She has been responsible for the scope and sequence of language arts curricula while aligning it to state-mandated academic standards. She has served as NCA Steering Committee Chair and a member of NCA accreditation visitation teams to other schools. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University with a major in English Education and minor in Speech Communications, and a Master of Counseling. In addition to having experience as a school guidance counselor, Lisa is also a state-licensed professional counselor and has served as a therapist to adults, adolescents and children. One of Lisa's greatest passions is to encourage and facilitate the growth of individuals, families, students and schools. Ms. Varner is qualified teach in English, Social Studies, Counseling, Communications, and Speech.
