Healey, Ph.D.
Dr. RaNae Healey holds a BA from Brigham Young University in Education; an MS degree from Eastern Washington University in Counseling Psychology and a Ph.D. in Human Relations and Counseling Psychology from Walden University. Dr. Healey has over 30 years experience both in the community as well as higher education. She has worked in the mental health field, in elementary and secondary education facilities both as an instructor and as a counselor. For the past 13 years, Dr. Healey has been employed in the Maricopa Community College District at GateWay Community College. She served in the counseling department for ten years, five of those years as the counseling department chair. Currently she is an instructor in the liberal arts division teaching psychology and communication courses. Dr. Healey has served on numerous committees in her tenure at GateWay College, including chairing the "Diversity Committee" and as a member on the District Advisory Board. Dr. Healey currently serves on the International Education committee, the "Criterion Two: Preparing for the Future" NCA committee, and has been an active participant on the Faculty Development Committee the past two years. Dr. Healey has traveled extensively throughout the years including presenting a workshop with a colleague in Beijing, China, PRC, in 1997 at the U.S./China Education Conference. In 2000, she traveled to Australia on a faculty exchange program for over 6 weeks, including a week in New Zealand. In 2002, Dr. Healey presented at the League of Innovations in Dallas, Texas, on "At Risk Populations" focusing on the POWER Program at GateWay Community College. In 2004, she traveled to Guatemala, studying and visiting the Mayan ruins in Guatemala and Mexico. In 2007, she was selected as one of 9 faculty members from the Maricopa District to travel to study in southern Spain with the University of Jae? professors on the impact the Muslims, Jews and Christians had in medieval Spain and how they lived together in peace and harmony. Dr. Healey traveled in many parts of Andalucía, including Jae?, Granada, Cordova and Seville, for this two week educational trip. Then on her own personal travel she traveled to Scandinavia countries and Russia, including St. Petersburg and Moscow, for a 3-week land tour during July and August this past summer. Dr. Healey is qualified to teach in psychology, human relations and counseling. |
